Certification Process
This course and the follow-up certification process qualifies participants to become a CIMI, a Certified Infant Massage Instructor (internationally with the International Association of Infant Massage, located in Sweden) and a CEIM, Certified Educator of Infant Massage (through Infant Massage USA, the US chapter of our international organization).
To earn your CEIM certification you will need to:
1) Attend the in-depth, four-day certification training.
(see list of four day courses coming up on the right)
2) Complete a take-home, open-book assignment/exam.
The take-home open-book written assignment is designed to help you integrate all you have learned at the training and the reading materials you receive. It includes multiple choice questions, short answer questions and short essay questions.
3) Teach five parents to massage their babies in a five-week course in the months following the training.
For your practicum, you find five parents interested in learning infant massage in your local community. You teach them the massage in a free, five week course, either in a group or individually. You will get to implement what you have learned, and put into practice the professional skills you took the class to learn. You may find these parents through you work or agency, through your friends and community contacts, or through marketing in your local area. We will have a marketing class in our workshop that will help you with this, and you will receive a 28 page Marketing Your Infant Massage workbook. You also can set up and do your class with another person who takes the training.
Due Date: At the training we set a four month due date for completing the practicum and take-home exam. If needed, you can ask for an extension for up to a year after the training to complete this. Simply ask your Trainer for an extension via an email.
